ERTMS-Strategie der Schweiz und der Stand ihrer Umsetzung - darum dreht sich der Vortrag von Patrick Favre, Bundesamt für Verkehr, Bern, beim nächsten ETCS-Stammtisch. Im Gegensatz zur initialen ETCS-Strategie werden in der ERTMS-Strategie zusätzlich zum Zugbeeinflussungssystem auch die weiteren Sicherungsanlagen, wie Stellwerk und Leittechnik, sowie die relevanten Umsysteme, wie TMS und ATO, berücksichtigt. Patrick Favre berichtet in seinem Vortrag zum Stand der Umsetzung in der Schweiz.
25. - 26. November in Radebeul - berufliche Kontakte knüpfen, fachlich austauschen, voneinander lernen
Unter dem Motto "Infrastruktur auf Spur?" lädt der VDEI zum interdisziplinären Austausch nach Radebeul ein. Wie funktioniert fachübergreifende Verkehrswegeplanung? Wie erreichen wir Planungssicherheit? Welche Rahmenbedingungen braucht es? Renommierte Vertreterinnen und Vertreter aus Forschungseinrichtungen, unternehmen und verschiedensten Fachrichtunge diskutieren diese Fragen im Rahmen der VDEI Eisenbahn-Fachtage 2025.
Die Veranstaltung richtet sich an Ingenieur:innen, Planer:innen, Projektleiter:innen, Prüfer:innen und alle, die sich für zukunftsfähige Lösungen im Bahnsystem einsetzen.
Neben Workshops und Vorträgen zu Themen wie Baugrundwissen für LST-Planer, ETCS-Migration, Erdung von Eisenbahnbrücken und Brückenbewegungen sowie Forschung und Standardisierung erwartet die Teilnehmenden ein großes Netzwerk, fachübergreifende Impulse und eine begleitende Fachausstellung mit 15 Unternehmen.

Connecting with railway experts across Europe and sharing knowledge – VDEI's partner organisation UEEIV (Union of European Railway Engineer Associations) is calling for topics to be submitted for the next “Railway Talks.”
Railway Talks are webinars that offer insights into current railway topics from various European countries, covering everything from infrastructure and project management to weather and environmental issues. UEEIV is aiming to expand the Railway Talks programme and include even more topics that are highly relevant to the railway sector.

Resilient and Reliable Mobility Systems
The ÖVG invites submissions of abstracts for the 24th European Transport Congress as well as applications for the European Friedrich-List-Prize 2026. The congress will be held on May 7 2026 in Vienna as part of the celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of the ÖVG – Austrian Society for Transport and Transportation Sciences.
The event will bring together leading voices from across Europe through inspiring keynotes, high-level panels, and scientific contributions from the mobility and transport research community.
Submission of abstracts
The 2026 theme, “Resilient and Reliable Mobility Systems: Insights from Science and Practice,” invites contributions that explore how transport infrastructure can adapt to a changing climate, meet increasing availability demands, and remain robust amid external shocks.
The ÖVG particularly welcomes submissions on, but not limited to, the following topics:
- Maintenance and Availability of Transport Infrastructures
- Climate Change and Resilience in Relation to Transport Infrastructures
Submission deadlines
- Extended Abstract Deadline: October 31, 2025
- Notification of Acceptance (incl. publication recommendations): December 15, 2025
- Full Paper Deadline (for special issues): April 30, 2026

European Friedrich-List-Prize 2026
The ÖVG also invites, on behalf of the European Platform of Transport Sciences (EPTS) Foundation e.V., the submission of papers for the 21st European Friedrich-List-Award 2026, dedicated to young transport scientists. The Award will be conferred during the 24th European Transport Congress 2026 in Vienna, Austria.
The European Friedrich-List-Prize is awarded for outstanding scientific papers in each of the following categories:
- Doctorate paper (PhD or comparable)
- Diploma paper (Master Thesis or comparable)
The submitted papers should address topics in the transport field within a European context and from a European perspective, ideally making reference and contributing to the sustainable development of elements and modes within pan-European or crossborder transport.
Application Deadline
Candidates are invited to submit their papers in electronic format (*PDF or *doc) via e-mail to the EPTS-General Secretariat until January 14th, 2026.

Im ZDF-Mittagsmagazin äußerte sich VDEI-Präsidentin Prof. Dr.-Ing. Birgit Milius zur Halbjahresbilanz der Deutschen Bahn. Sie betonte die Relevanz von nachhaltigen Investitionen in Infrastruktur, Digitalisierung und Personal.
Eine Strukturreform müsse sowohl die großen Projekte, wie die Riedbahn, umfassen als auch mit kleinen Maßnahmen die Resilienz des Netzes insgesamt verbessern. Mehr Personal werde in den Zügen ebenso benötigt wie in der Projektplanung. Es gebe in den vergangenen Jahren gute Ansätze, wie die langfristige Infrastrukturplanung und dass es im Bereich der Finanzierung in die richtige Richtung gehe. "Wir sind noch nicht da, wo wir sein wollen, aber wir sind auf dem richtigen Weg und diesen sollten wir weitergehen", so Birgit Milius.
